Even More Updates - New Plans - 2005-09-29

Hello fellow GeekZ.

I have been doing some additional work on HostGeekZ, some of it is now visual on the main website and I hope you like the new guide layouts. The guides now contain a mixture of red/green/bold/italic text to help read the guide better, I have updated every guide in the database to follow this new format. Most guides will now state `nano` instead of `pico` due to the fact that newer distros are not coming with pico, while its the same the new name is nano and a few people are getting confused.

If you wish to use pico just execute `ln -s /usr/bin/nano /usr/bin/pico` to save on any confusion.

The archive link on the menu has now been removed and the SiteMap has now taken its place.

HostGeekZ is still finishing off the beta testing on the new services and they will be rolled out over the next few weeks. I will announce 3 of the new planned services today.

1) Monitoring
You will now be able to setup site monitoring directly from HostGeekZ, each user will have a panel which you will be able to login too from your forum username and password. You may monitor as many sites as you wish for free at 10 minute intervals. If you would like 5 minute intervals they will be charged at $1/site. If you would like 1 minute intervals they will be charged at $2/site. Each monitoring server will be low-end servers located around the world hosting ONLY the monitor.

You will receive site monitoring, which will also inform you via email when your website is down, along with uptime reports. More information will come when the new service is released, if you cannot wait you may email webmaster@hostgeekz.com

2) FAQ
The FAQ service will be in development for another few months. This is designed around hosts not having to make there own FAQ and can use a preset one by HostGeekZ, no link is required to HostGeekZ and the FAQ will look entirely like your own. TO use this service again people will be required to use there forum username and password, it is completely free. We will generate you a random ID so you are able to fully customize your faq layouts.

3) Server Administrator
HostGeekZ will be announcing the ability to hire a system administrator services and plans within the next few weeks. This includes full server hardening, custom monitoring scripts, we will conduct full audits on all installed scripts, accounts, packages on your server. Not only will you receive bargain prices but you will receive a top quality service. More information will be provided when the new service is rolled out.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for using HostGeekZ and making it what it is today, you may contact me on webmaster@hostgeekz.com if you require any assistance.
